I met Weird Al Yankovic in 2016 at a Cal Poly alumni event put on by the journalism department. There was a fancy gala being held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of student media, and as someone who graduated with a journalism degree, I was invited. Tickets to this gala were expensive, so I originally was not planning on going, but I changed my mind as soon as I found out that Weird Al would be in attendance. (He was one of four alumni who were inducted into the Mustang Media Hall of Fame that night.)Â
I met Allison Iraheta at the 2013 Midsate Fair in Paso Robles, California. My mom and I were attending an Adam Lambert concert there, and Allison was the opening act. After her set, she came out into the crowd to greet fans.Â
New Times, 2025 (because of Side Effect)
Click here for a local article about my debut novel, featuring some insight into how I came up with the story.
The Wall Street Journal, 2022 (because of Mountain Dew)
I once ended up being featured in the online version of the Wall Street Journal because I took a silly photo of myself drinking Mountain Dew out of a bowl and posted it on Twitter. The article can be found here, but it is behind a paywall. For screenshots of the article and the backstory/context behind it, click here. (The second link leads to my Dew Resume.)
